The purpose of the Indigenous Elders Navigator program is to enhance service provision, provide advocacy, decrease isolation, chaperone Elders to medical appointments as needed and improve accountability through a family-centred approach that focuses on meeting the needs of our Elders.
The Navigator acts as the “navigator” for Elders to assist them to understand and access the multitude of support services that may be available to them. The service is based out of our Campbell River office, but the Navigator will travel down one day per week to Courtenay to provide service to the urban Elders in that community. This program is funded by First Nations Health Authority.
